It all began last early Spring. I was lamenting to Chris Moody that there needed to be a software that EVERYONE could use to develop audio drama...
... Chris was certain there WAS such a software. Within a couple of weeks, he had found the software again and passed it back to me. I contacted Sheila Crosby from the Celtx team, and told her of my interest in developing the Audio Drama component. Sheila was incredibly excited as were the other team members. Soon I was working with Sheila and Greg Dawson to come up with the format and features needed to take care of an Audio component. I recommended J. Michael Straczynski's "The Complete Book of Scriptwriting" for exact dimensions of the page, and formats for both modern and OTR scripts.
In July I was a part of the beta trials. It was during the week I was moving, and literally I was out in the cold. With my things packed away at a friend's house, I was sleeping out of my car until my apartment was ready. I dropped into a Starbucks for an afternoon of solid beta testing. With my background in computer consulting, beta testing is no stranger to me.
I was impressed that even in the beta, the coding was TIGHT. I couldn't find any "gotcha" bugs, and only had a series of notes for feature variations and hot key coding ideas.
When you're beta list doesn't include a single crash or dead end, you know you're dealing with meticulous programmers (and some of the friendliest people you'd ever meet!)
Both Sheila and Greg are generous to a fault, mailing me lots of Celtx swag and giving me the opportunity to pass this amazing opportunity on to the schools I deal with, and the community I'm proud to be a member.
They even gave me a credit in the software, including Sonic Cinema. Thanks guys! You did all the heavy lifting! We're just happy to finally have a tool to make it happen. And thanks to Chris too for getting me tuned in to Celtx in the first place!
