PermaLink A Lovecraftian Tale08/26/2007 08:48 AM
Muse of Madness has been burning on the edge of my mind for some time now... now the imp is freed.

Some time ago, I was perusing through a collection of H.P. Lovecraft's works. Previously I had only read a short story here and there. Getting a larger experience of the works of the master of horror certainly got me thinking... and thinking.
What arrived last winter (I have a theory all great horror is written in the bleak season) was "Muse of Madness". This audio drama tale buttresses what I hope can be seen to be in the style of Lovecraft with my love of old time radio.
The tribute to Mercury Theatre and Orson Welles, of course, is rather transparent, but then it is consciously so.
Our hero Angus Danford, is a janitor who came from money, and a certain amount of education and breeding, and aches to make his way through the fame afforded to only a few writers at a time of any age.
Angus is complicit, albeit reluctantly to a horror that may very well end the world.
While normally Sonic Cinema would tackle producing this story, I have sent it off to the good folks at Willamette Radio Theatre to consider a treatment.
In this humble writer/producer's Sam Mowry, is one of the shining lights of audio theatre today!
